FORD RANGER, Model years 2016-2017

Date posted

The Hazard

When driving over long grass, vegetation may accumulate under the car, near the exhaust system. In the course of normal operation, the exhaust system in that area may reach a high temperature. If sufficient grass or other combustible material accumulates, this high temperature could create a risk of fire.

To add additional protection against the accumulation of grass vegetation that may have gone undetected. Ford is developing additional shielding that will reduce the possibility for the concern to occur. We will write to owners when that additional shielding is available to be installed on thier vehicle.

What to do

Please refer to the warnings in the Owner Manual under sections:
• Starting and Stopping the Engine - General Information
• Starting and Stopping the Engine - Diesel Particulate Filter
• Fuel and Refueling - Catalytic Converter
