Mercury Design 2 Joystick Piloting Kit
Software Upgrade

Date posted

The Hazard

There is a potential issue with the operating software of the joystick that can lead to the steering helm sensor providing the Vessel's control system with an incorrect reading, and may lead to unintended steering of the vessel.

Unintended steering or loss of steering control can increase the risk of an accident or injury.

What to do

If your vessel is equipped with a Design 2 joystick, avoid using it until it has been checked and, if necessary, a software upgrade is performed.

Contact Marine Power for instructions on conducting a self check to determine whether your product is affected or contact your local mercury dealer to arrange for the vessel to be inspected.

If your vessel is equipped with a Design 1 joystick, the upgrade is not required. Please email Marine Power and quote your engine serial numbers.
