The battery housing of the motor may not be watertight on some units, allowing water to enter the housing when submerged. If water enters the housing, it may cause a chemical reaction with the lithium battery that could lead to a fire.
What to do...
If you have one of the potentially affected models, stop using it and register the battery with Torqeedo via their website. You will be directed to a local Torqeedo Service Centre who will check the affected products for water tightness and repair where necessary.
